Saturday morning we had a great breakfast, and the boys headed out to the fishing derby. Most of the boys won either tackle box, fishing pole or a flashlight. Several of the boys won some BIG prizes like a bicycle and a four-room tent. We had 11 families represented at this year’s family camp. We have also returned to the annual father/son and boy/boy competition, after an absence of 8 or so years. This will become an annual event once again.
There were 13 teams competing for the coveted “collector knives”. Mason Sharp, and Freddy Oakley won the boy/boy division. Stephen and Paden Tillery won the father son division. Mr. Kiefer and his kitchen crew were on hand to deliver delicious meals throughout the weekend. He served 47 people Saturday night! The weather could have been warmer and drier, but it wasn’t bad enough to dampen anyone’s spirits.
Saturday night we had a special musical treat. Mr. Laughlin and his band played some tropical music prior to and after the campfire. Special thanks to Kenny Braden for accompanying on the
electric guitar. Next time you see Mr. Fithen, ask him how it feels to run a boat into a dock! Scouts, siblings and parents all had fun.
Yours in Scouting,
