The 2005 Troop 80 Family Christmas Banquet, held on December 13 at the Jack Bryant Scout Center, was a delicious meal catered by JT’s and Troop 80’s own Brandon Merrill. The evening was also a celebration of both a great year of scouting and a celebration of many years of dedication and commitment for some men who are hanging up their black hats after many years of service to the families of Troop 80. The troop honored Paul Kiefer for 17 years of working both as finance committee chairman and chef extraordinaire. Jim Altsman served 10 years as advancement chairman, a really tough job to tackle. Also honored for their long years of dedication were Committee Chairman James Savage, who has worked with the troop under various titles since 1983, and Scoutmaster Eric Wolfram, both of whom earned their Eagle rank with Troop 80. Eric worked as an ASM while attending Amarillo College, and went back to work with the Troop as soon as he and his family moved back to Amarillo after law school. He has officially been Scoutmaster for 20 years. Many thanks to all of these men for all that they have contributed to Troop 80. Other highlights included:
Duct Tape Award: John Standish
RT Abrahamson Award for Outstanding Scout: Casey Fithen
Jack Bryant Leadership Award: Josiah Krulik
Skill Patrol: Cherokee Patrol, Casey Fithen PL
Duty Honor, Courage Award: Choctaw Patrol, Brandon Sena PL

NOVEMBER CAMP REPORT: Great weather, great food. Another fun time of rappelling and climbing. We had to pick up a little trash, but the rangers were nice and we fed one a spaghetti dinner, for our daily good turn. Ricochet Rick drove us back safely. Carl Johnson preached the sermon on his birthday, which was quite a treat (the sermon, not his birthday).
Parents and family members showed up at the Maverick Club swimming pool to cheer on the scouts. The competition was fierce and the Cherokee Patrol finished on top. This was the third year in a row for the patrol to win the swim meet. The won in 2003 and 2004 under the Blackfeet Patrol Name. Individual winners: Freestyle 25 Yard: Garrett Hall; Breaststroke: Christian Herrmann; Backstroke: Brad Beckner; Freestyle 50 Yard: Jonathan Wingate Relay Champions: Cherokee Patrol; Swim Meet Champions: Cherokee Patrol.

We look forward to watching you as individuals and as the Troop to grow and flourish. May you enjoy each day and reflect upon the skills and standards you have learned through being a part of this troop, just as our family has. May God bless each and every one of you! ~ Eric and Judy Wolfram
