PHILMONT CAMP
Scouts, dads, webelos and others enjoyed a weekend in the High Country. Steak dinner was great. No one got lost. A few got home a little late. Ask ST and RR. The 2-holer was a good distance away. The weather was great.
The ten event competition went off with a bang. Winners were Jim and Blaine Thompson in the Scout-Dad. Brandon Naylor and Brent Naylor took first in Scout-Scout for a second year, Dale Matteson and his son from Pack 10 won first in Webelo -Dad. Thanks to SF and a lost cot, the scoutmaster had to sing “Squirrel” at the campfire. It was not a pretty site.
SPOOK-O-REE
Troop 80 is helping with a skill area for 3 weekends in October. We will set up an area for second year Webelos. You may remember Spook-o-ree from your Cub Scout days. If interested in helping, contact Randy Reed.
TREE LOT
Set up day is November 14. Trees come in on November 20. Still need day workers for both lots. This is our big fund raiser for the year and we need your help. The more people that show up, the less time we have to work setting up the lots. Sign up now to control your fate and get the shift you want and not the shift assigned.
TROOP 80 ONLINE
The Troop has a WEB page and you can see it at: www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Geyser/3760/index.htm. That is, if you have a computer and Internet access. A lot of our members now have e-mail and this is a quick and free way to get information out. Get on the Troop’s list by sending mail to our own Scout Master at wlfpc@arn.net.
ORDER OF THE ARROW
All dues paying members of the OA are invited to attend a day at WTAMU at our Fall Fellowship. Dues are only $5.00 dollars a year. A few meetings in the morning, lunch, and the afternoon at the Activity center. Ping pong, basketball, bowling, racket ball, and all the rest will be available. A great dinner and awards ceremony will top off the evening. Contact the Scout office for details.

Eric takes some scouts on a hike.
He’s Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate, with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help, he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment, would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and some hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum."
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart, and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
He’s just a little boy, and not a man yet.
