February 23rd – 25th
Summary: We left the Troop building on time but ran
into major blowing snow once we hit the mountains. When we arrived at camp, the same 40 mph wind
had hit the early crew at camp and we only had 5 tents set up so we stayed up
until 3 a.m. putting tents up. Early crew did a good job under worst-case
scenario conditions. Mr. Standish did a
great job on the food again and was aided by kitchen flunkies Randy Nuttall and
Doug Walker. The weather lightened up a
little on Saturday but the winds did continue to be brutal. Some of the boys went skiing at Sipapu and
the rest stayed on the sledding hill or huddled around the fire in the day
cabin. This was definitely the best snow we have seen at Snow Camp in a long time
(30-40 inch base). Sunday morning was wild trying to break camp with all the
new boys. And wouldn’t you know it that
the wind finally died down and Sunday morning was perfect conditions while we
were packing up. Mr. Johnson gave an
abbreviated church service and we headed back to God’s country. We stop in McDonald’s at
